Safety is serious business. Indoor Air Quality in your home is an important concern. Haz-Matters is in the “safety business” and our professional team has the experience, knowledge and skill to handle your needs.
Chuck Massie: Haz-Matters’ president and Safety Specialist
Chuck started Haz-Matters Safety in 1994 to provide safety and health training, program development and assessment activities to area businesses.
Chuck was a Fire Fighter Medic with a major fire department and emergency response team from 1985 to 1999. He has been a certified CPR/First Aid Instructor since 1987. In addition, Chuck attended the training necessary to qualify him as a competent, certified instructor for 29 CFR 1910.120, Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and the other OSHA standards training.
Over the last ten years he has been involved in analysis of fire and HazMat problems in the district, designed and presented fire and life safety training for citizens ranging from the pre-schooler to senior citizens and developed and delivered disaster planning and preparedness programs for schools, neighborhoods and businesses.
Chuck has provided EMT courses, Safety courses and additional training courses to local businesses, government agencies and educational groups throughout the region as an instructor for HAZ-MATTERS Safety, the fire department, and for Pennington County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) as well as the State of South Dakota Division of Emergency Management.
Haz-Matters then made the short transition from chemical and safety hazards to indoor hazards dealing with Indoor Air Quality. Already an Industrial Hygienist (IH), Chuck continued his education and gained significant experience dealing with indoor air quality hazards, tests, and remediation processes.
